Why we want you to join

Sycamore Land Trust is a membership-based organization, and there’s a really good reason for that. Land conservation takes the whole community — lots of communities — working together to protect something we all believe in. Each of us alone couldn’t protect thousands of acres forever, but if we each pitch in a little, we can make a huge difference.

Today, Sycamore protects 9,160 acres of land in southern Indiana. That land is home to bobcats, bald eagles, hiking trails, cypress groves, Indiana bats, and thousands of personal discoveries in nature every year. That’s an incredible accomplishment that our members have made in just 27 years! Think what an impact we’ll have in 50 years.

To truly protect nature in a way that makes a lasting difference for our communities, Sycamore needs to grow even more. We need the support of every one of you who believes that this beautiful land is worth protecting.

That’s why we’re inviting new members to join for just $20 — half the normal rate — through August 31. Thanks to the generosity of our board member, Jenny Johnson, we’re able to offer this special discount and welcome so many new people to Team Sycamore. Jenny has provided a $5,000 challenge grant because she believes in what we do. In Jenny’s own words:

Jenny Johnson, Sycamore board member and Commercial Property Manager/Owner in Brown County

“I support Sycamore Land Trust because of the awesome work being done to protect important wildlife and native plant habitat by securing beautiful parcels of land for our use and for generations to come! I especially wanted to support our Membership Drive because I believe in the power of community and the feeling of being connected. What better way to connect than through the beauty of our natural environment. I hope lots of families take this opportunity to join and connect with nature through Sycamore’s amazing Environmental Education Programs…it could mean so much to their lives!”

When you become a member, you’ll enjoy exclusive benefits including a one-year subscription to our beautiful print newsletter, The Twig, as well as free admission to public hiking and outdoors events (normally $5 per person). But you’ll also get something even more meaningful, because the next time you step onto one of our 16 public nature preserves, you’ll know that you’ve helped protect that land forever.

Join today and invite your friends! And thank you!
