Phenology Trail at Touch the Earth Natural Area

Phenology is the study of nature’s calendar and tells us how weather and seasons play a role in the life cycles of plants and animals. Sycamore Land Trust’s Touch The Earth Natural Area is now a Phenology Trail, where visitors can use a citizen science method to observe and collect native plant, animal, and insect data using a smart phone.

This project — a partnership between the Sierra Club Winding Waters Group, Indiana Phenology, and Sycamore Land Trust — uses the power of citizen scientists to help answer questions that guide native habitat restoration and resource allocation as well as raise awareness to protect native species and eradicate invasives.
