Kids’ Nature Discovery Art Contest

Sycamore invites all young artists and nature lovers to submit their artwork for our Kids’ Nature Discovery Art Contest! Create a picture of something you can discover in nature and submit it by October 3, 2021, for a chance to be featured in our beautiful 2022 Kid’s Nature Discovery Calendar. This new, limited-edition calendar will help kids learn about what to look for each month in nature including seasonal changes affecting plant and animal life in southern Indiana.
Twelve winners will have their art featured in this engaging calendar, receive a free early copy, and have their work on display at the new Arts Alliance Center in College Mall near Foot Locker, an extension of the Arts Alliance of Greater Bloomington. The winners will also be spotlighted in Sycamore’s Virtual Annual Celebration on October 21, 2021.
All entries will be displayed in a Kids’ Nature Discovery Art Gallery at Sycamore’s Cedar Crest office and shared publicly in a virtual gallery tour. Every entry will receive a Sycamore Land Trust bookmark in the mail.
To enter the Kid’s Nature Discovery Art Contest:
- All ages welcome. Winners will be chosen from four age groups: 0-5 years, 6-8 years, 9-12 years, and 13 or older.
- Submit a scan or photo of the artwork to events@sycamorelandtrust.org. Include a name for the artwork (for example “Cat Clouds”), the name and age of the artist, contact information for notifying winners, and an address to mail the bookmark.
- To fit the calendar, artwork should be 8.5 x 11 inches in landscape orientation (wider than it is tall).
- Attach a short video of the child explaining what they created and why it is important to protect nature (optional). If chosen as a winner, the artwork will be featured with this video in our Virtual Annual Celebration on October 21, 2021.
