Sycamore Pursues Reaccreditation with the Land Trust Alliance
For over three decades, Sycamore Land Trust has protected land, restored habitat, and encouraged people to experience the natural world. This work has only been possible because of the tremendous generosity and trust of our supporters. We take our responsibility to these donors and our communities very seriously, and always with careful consideration of Sycamore’s promise of sustainability. Our ‘For forever’ slogan isn’t just a catchy phrase – Sycamore is committed to protecting land in perpetuity.
A commitment like this requires preparation and expertise. In 2019 Sycamore was proud to achieve national accreditation through the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. The Commission awards the accreditation seal to those organizations demonstrating responsible governance, ethical conduct, sound finances, and lasting stewardship practices. Because accreditation is an ongoing process, requiring renewal every five years, we are pleased to announce that we are now applying for renewal of our accreditation status. By maintaining this professional accreditation, you can have continued confidence that Sycamore Land Trust conducts business in keeping with the highest standards of our profession. Thus, ensuring that the work we do together is impactful and enduring.
The Land Trust Accreditation Commission invites public comment on pending applications. A public comment period is now open. The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs. The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how Sycamore Land Trust complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards see http://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-practices.
