Early Bird Hike with Ben Fleet

***This hike was rescheduled to March 22, 9-11am, due to high winds.*** This Early Bird Hike is perfect for those looking to get outside and enjoy the serenity of the natural world at dawn. Ben will help you identify the birds calling and singing in the cool morning air, including a variety of songbirds, waterfowl, and woodpeckers as they prepare for spring. With the spring migration just beginning, March is a fantastic time to catch sight of some returning species like Robins, Red-winged Blackbirds, Cedar Waxwings, and perhaps even the first of the warblers. The preserve’s mix of wetlands, woodlands, and meadows provides the perfect habitat for a variety of bird species. Along the way, we’ll discuss the early behaviors of these birds—what they’re feeding on, where they’re migrating from, and what to listen for in their songs and calls.
