Bats of Beanblossom: Mist Netting & Acoustic Monitoring Event

Join Sycamore Land Trust, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and SWCA to explore the Bats of Beanblossom! For over a decade, biologists have studied bat populations within the Beanblossom Creek watershed using mist netting and acoustic monitoring. These efforts have revealed an impressive diversity of species, including big brown bats, tri-colored bats, hoary bats, and the federally endangered Indiana bat. During this event, bat biologists from the Indiana DNR and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service will demonstrate how they monitor bats in the field. Participants will help set up mist nets and acoustic detection tools, while learning about the biology, ecology, and lifecycles of these fascinating creatures. This is a free event.
