Seed Collection at the Sam Shine Foundation Preserve

Join Education Director Saige Sentell and Bill Daniels, volunteer co-manager of our Native Plant Nursery, for a special volunteer opportunity to learn how to ethically harvest and clean seeds for habitat restoration projects, targeting native prairie species such as prairie coneflower, rattlesnake master, swamp milkweed, false blue indigo, and more. The seeds you collect will be used in educational programming throughout our 26-county service area and in future restoration projects at our preserves. Participants will be working off-trail in tall vegetation. Long sleeves, long pants, sturdy shoes, and sun protection are required. The Sam Shine Foundation Preserve is not open to the public. Registration is required.
