Monthly Birding: Birds and Botany with Ken Keffer and Saige Sentell

If there are two things we love at Sycamore, it’s Birds and Botany! Join our education director, Saige Sentell, and Ken Keffer of Wild Birds Unlimited – Bloomington for a stroll through Columbia Mine Preserve, where the prairies’ open habitats are teeming with birds and wildflowers! Mid-July checklists on eBird report species like Indigo Bunting, Common Yellowthroat, Red-winged Blackbird, Eastern Bluebird, and Field Sparrows using these sunny grassland and edge habitats during July. Last year, Saige observed three Yellow-Breasted Chats singing above the restored meadow, along with a bobcat and a HUGE box turtle. This hike will be at a relaxed pace with many stops along the way!
