Hike the Trust: Columbia Mine Preserve

Bobcats, box turtles, and blue grosbeaks! Columbia Mine Preserve is full of surprises! On this Hike the Trust adventure, we’ll explore a landscape where nature is steadily reclaiming a former mining site through decades of restoration and careful stewardship. This preserve is managed through a strong partnership between Sycamore Land Trust and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, working together to guide habitat recovery and support thriving forests, wetlands, and wildlife. As we hike two miles, we’ll discuss the ever changing landscape that tells a powerful story of resilience, recovery, and conservation in action.
