Native Plants for Birds and Pollinators

Start your morning with a birding walk through Switchyard Park before the MC-IRIS Native Plant Sale! We’ll look and listen for birds in the restored meadows, woodland edges, and riparian areas while exploring how native trees, shrubs, grasses, and wildflowers provide essential food, shelter, and nesting habitat. Along the way, you’ll learn which native plants can help make your own yard a haven for birds and other wildlife. After the walk, stay for the MC-IRIS Native Plant Sale and discover a wide selection of native plants for your home landscape. The Monroe County Identify and Reduce Invasive Species (MC-IRIS) group works to promote the use of native plants and reduce the impacts of invasive species through education, outreach, and community action. Their annual plant sale is a great opportunity to support local biodiversity while finding beautiful plants that benefit birds, pollinators, and other wildlife.
