Culver Preserve
The Culver Preserve protects forest on rugged Crawford Upland terrain, along with a portion of the floodplain of Richland Creek.
Oak-hickory forest dominates the uplands, with American beech and sugar maple in the understory. An historic building site along a ridge is evidenced by foundation stones and surrounding younger forest of tulip poplar and eastern red cedar.
The floodplain area contains bottomland hardwoods including sycamore, black walnut, tulip poplar, and slippery elm. Spring ephemeral wildflowers are abundant.
