The forested Latimer Preserve borders State Road 46 east of Bloomington and preserves part of the scenic drive to Nashville. The preserve is divided by a paved road that follows a ridge across the property. On either side are steep, forested ravines.
Parking is available in the gravel parking lot behind the Arbutus Church on Twinleaf Trace, although there is no trail. Please respect the neighbors at the end of the road and do not approach their home. The open area west of the gravel lot used to be a sawmill, which Sycamore Land Trust has replanted with native trees.
The preserve was a gift of the Latimer Family in 2001, who also donated the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department’s Latimer Woods preserve near the College Mall.
