Wood Preserve
The Wood Preserve protects upland forest on steep slopes adjacent to Morgan-Monroe State Forest and in the watershed of Lake Monroe. The preserve shares 0.6 miles of boundary with the neighboring state forest. It provides habitat for the state-endangered timber rattlesnake, which has been found on the preserve and in the state forest nearby.
Lindsey and Loren Wood donated 40 acres of the preserve to Sycamore, which allowed us to leverage grants from the Indiana Bicentennial Nature Trust and The Nature Conservancy to purchase an adjacent 55 acres.
