Named for the scarlet oak trees that display brilliant red fall colors, this property protects a mostly mature, open forest that borders a unit of the Morgan-Monroe State Forest and the Danny Smith II neighborhood. A short trail follows a ridge that runs the length of the property, with a deep valley to the west of the trail. The very top of the ridge was a clearing a few decades ago, and now has younger trees than the rest of the preserve.
